BAFA showcases inclusive wheelchair format on KMTV

BAFA starts the new academic year showcasing its new and inclusive Wheelchair American Flag Football format on KMTV’s ‘Team Talk’ show. Designed for the School Games, with schools in mind and, inclusive as the rules allow for non-wheelchair users to play in wheelchairs alongside wheelchair-users. For youngsters, this will allow more opportunities for participation in a sport aspiring to the Play Unified ideals and also provide non-wheelchair users valuable experience and insight to the challenges of wheelchair sport and the day-to-day experiences of wheelchair-users. To support this, BAFA would encourage schools to explore the funding opportunities that may exist for wheelchair sport, regardless of how many wheelchair-users a school may have. Safe, fun, and exciting, the format has tried to preserve all the key elements of standard American Football to create a game that has tension and explosive movement, technical challenges for all participants, and adapts things like the Field Goal or Point After Try to make suitable for wheelchair users of all ages. Many thanks to everyone at KMTV for such a brilliant piece!
